The Parking Enforcement Officer enforces City parking rules and regulations by issuing citations for illegal parking. Assists the general public by giving directions pertaining to the location of buildings and streets throughout the City and to assist as Crossing Guard, during school hours, in the absence of the assigned Crossing Guard. Notifies Headquarters of any disabled vehicle or any citizen complaint pertaining to the Department. Reviews records to determine citations not paid and prepares all paperwork for mailing of second notices of unpaid parking violations. Prepares all paperwork for delinquent parking citations for Court such as Complaints, Warrants, and Summons. Performs traffic direction and activities.

What hours do the Parking Control Officers work?
The parking enforcement officer currently works Monday - Friday from 9:00 am to 3:30 PM, excluding holidays.

 I live in the City. When a Snow Emergency is declared where can I park?
The has several downtown parking lots designated for winter parking. You must have a sticker for your car, and you must park only in designated sections of the lot. Failure to do so may result in your vehicle being ticketed and towed. You will be responsible to pay those fees. You must be a resident of Rochester to obtain this sticker. Your application is reviewed by the Director of Public Works and the Police Chief before a winter parking exemption is issued. There is no fee to obtain a winter parking exemption sticker. Please check in with our Records or Parking Enforcement Division to obtain more information on which lots are designated for winter parking.

How can I contest a parking violation?

The Rochester Police Department has an appeal process for parking violations. You may see any supervisor on duty to contest a parking ticket.

 

I lost my parking citation - What do I do?
Come to the police department during normal business hours and request a copy from parking enforcement.
