Requirements:
The Rochester Police Department has established the following minimum requirements to be considered for employment:
Must
be a United States Citizen;
The applicant must be 20 years of age at the time of application.
Applicants must possess a
high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
Applicants must have at least thirty college credits
or a full time police certification from any state at the time of application.
Applicants must be able to perform all the essential
functions of the job of police officer including passing a physical fitness examination.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
The phases of the hiring process are as follows;
Written Examination; (Great Bay Community College)
Resume
submission;
Physical agility test;
Oral interview;
Conditional offer of probationary employment;
Personal history
statement;
Background investigation;
Mentor ride along;
Interview with the Rochester Police Commission;
Polygraph
examination;
Medical examination;
Psychological examination.
An agreement to be employed with the Rochester Police
Department for a two year period, commencing on the date of hire, is required. The officer will be on probation for one year. Trainees will undergo 10-12 weeks of on the job training with an FTO. Evaluations will be frequent to meet the department's desired
acceptable standards of progress. Certain testing and requirements may be waived for officers who hold current full time certification. For information interested parties may contact the Rochester Police Department's personnel director.

Salary:
The present salary range for patrol personnel is $38,738 to $56,688
This is subject to change and excludes incentive and longevity
pay.

paid days per calendar year.
Sick Days:
One day per month, accumulative to 110 days. Spousal days, three per year (non-cumulative).
Comp Time:
90 Day Comp earned. If not sick for a consecutive 90 days employees will receive one day personal leave + can
accumulate though time of employment.

Harvard Pilgrim HMO, 80 percent of premium paid by the
city, 20 percent paid by the employee

Life Insurance:
Life insurance provided by the City to the next $1000 of salary. Additional
insurance is available at the employee's expense.
Dental:
City covers a cost up to $250 per year. Added family coverage is available
at employee expense.
Disability Insurance:
Disability insurance is available at employee expense.
Retirement:
Half pay
after 20 years of service and 45 years of age.
