The Rochester Police Department is now taking applications for the 2012 Rochester/Somersworth Police Citizen’s Academy. This is the second joint Citizen’s Academy conducted by the Rochester and Somersworth Police Departments. Both agencies are looking forward to the opportunities afforded by this unique venture.
Citizen’s will be exposed to the many functions and layers of their police department through presentations by department employees, hands-on tactical training, ride-a-longs with the officers, all culminated into what drives the crime reduction and quality of life issues in our Cities. Here’s your chance to learn what your police department “really does”.
The Academy class will meet weekly on an evening from 6 PM to 9 PM starting in 2012 on March 14th and concluding on May 23rd. All participants must be 18 years of age or older at the commencement of the Academy or 15 years of age or older if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The class is limited to 20 participants and will be conducted on a first come first serve basis with preference being given to Rochester and Somerworth residents. Applications and Release of Information Authorization forms are available on the website and can be either mailed or faxed. A signature is required. Participants must pass a brief background check to include a criminal records check.
If you have any questions you may contact Captain Scott Dumas @ 330-7145 or Captain David Kretschmar @ 692-3131. You may also fax finished applications and Release of Information Authorizations to 330-7164.
